Ajinoya

Don't be put off by the queue outside Ajinoya Restaurant - a testament to its success. With beginner okonomiyaki at 990 yen (about $9/8€), this small restaurant also offers a menu for two people at 3350 yen (i.e. $30/27€) including land and sea okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and negiyaki, finer okonomiyaki with lots of chives. You can also taste akashiyaki (octopus dumplings), omu soba, or Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, all accompanied by a mug of Asahi, the Japanese beer.

Chibo Doton Buri

Chibo is a chain of restaurants created in 1967 and has become a real institution. There are many in Osaka. We recommend the establishment located in the lively district of Namba, in the heart of the city. The establishment offers different rooms: you can eat at the counter, in front of the cooks, at a classic table, or in Japanese style near the floor. Vegetarians will also find their happiness here. A must on the famous Dotonburi Street!

Okonomiyaki Chitose

This is an address in the Tennoji district, which is a hit with locals and foreigners alike! At Chitose, the staff speaks English and will be able to advise you on how to choose from the menu. You will feel at home, in front of the chef who prepares and grills the various dishes in front of you, the specialty being the pork and shrimp okonomiyaki. A good way to discover a real okonomiyaki restaurant, at a low price.

Located on level -1 of the " Umeda Sky Building " which also houses an observatory, the Kiji restaurant offers a good-natured atmosphere and an incomparable welcome from the owner. This small establishment with walls covered with papers takes you to the heart of Kansai. Seated in front of the teppan, you can taste the specialty, the "Buta-tama" okonomiyaki with pork and egg. The prices are very cheap since they start at 680 yen ($6/5€), for a complete and tasty meal suitable for small budgets.

Mizuno

Located very close to the Osaka canal, you will find this restaurant in a shotengai, one of these covered shopping arcades. Again, the okonomiyaki is made right in front of you. Try "Yamaimo-yaki ", Osaka's original okonomiyaki, containing yams and crunchy cabbage, or the local specialty, "Mizuno-yaki", with pork, squid, shrimp, octopus, and minced meat. A delight!
