Spend time with animals

This is an activity suitable for all ages. The best zoo in Japan is undoubtedly Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. As for aquariums, the Osaka Kaiyukan is known for being the largest in the world and home to cute penguins and a giant whale shark. To observe deer, go to the Nara Koen park and to Miyajima Island. Monkey lovers will be delighted by Iwatayama Mountain in Kyoto.

Japan is an exotic destination that interests children. Seeing a temple, a school, a castle or a samurai domain  is a reminder of the cultural codes seen in movies, cartoons and manga. You can take part in outdoor activities such as sailing a boat on the Hozu River in Kyoto, canoeing in the  Hiroshima area or plan a short hike near Kyoto. Moreover, many festivals rich in color and music are very popular with children.
