Tokyo Toei Buses 都営バス, 東京
Tokyo Toei buses (run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation) serve most of the main areas of Tokyo within the Yamanote Loop including Akihabara, Tokyo Station, Tokyo Sky Tree, Roppongi, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Shinagawa, Sugamo, Odaiba and Ginza. Toei's over 1400 buses, many of them Non-Step, usually connect with Tokyo Toei and Tokyo metro subway stations.
One Day Pass
For visitors to Tokyo hoping to see Tokyo above ground (at a much slower pace) rather than underground on the Tokyo subway, a one day pass is the way to go. The Toei Bus One Day Economy Pass costs just 500 yen or choose the Toei Bus One-Day IC Card Pass which can be added to a PASMO card. Another option is the Tokyo One-Day Free Ticket which allows unlimited use of Toei buses, Toei subways, the Toei Streetcar Arakawa Line (Toden), and the Nippori-Toneri Liner, as well as Tokyo Metro and JR East trains including the Yamanote Line within Tokyo's 23 wards for one day. This pass costs 1580 yen.
Fares
Normal fares regardless of distance are presently 200 yen. Get on a Toei bus from the front door, and get off from the rear door. This is opposite from many other bus services in Japan (such as Kyoto) where commuters enter through the rear door and exit through the front door. Both Suica and PASMO cards can be used on Tokyo Toei buses.
Routes
Toei buses are green, yellow and white. There are presently 138 routes and over 1600 stops. Toei also operate a number of specific sightseeing buses such as the Tokyo Shitamachi Bus visiting Akihabara, Ueno and Asakusa from Tokyo Station.
