Manabe shima
Manabe shima
He had to choose one,out of several few thousand islands... and just one, that Florent Chavouet would go and explore to discover another Japan than the sprawling Tokyo. So he turned his sights on Manabe Island (Manabe shima), and applied himself to portraying the the daily rhythm, armed with his faithful colored pencils. Throughout the pages, drawings accompanied by amusing anecdotes portray the cozy ambience of an island village on the inland sea. A incredibly rich Japan, though often overlooked, which is presented to us through a sharply penciled humorous prism.
