Kyoto Cycling Tour Project
Go, get into gear!
Exploring Kyoto on foot is good. Enjoying the charming streets and less visited areas, by bike is even better.
Pedaling in Kyoto happens naturally. It is often the most effective way to go from one temple to another, especially during high season, when bus traffic is chaotic. The Kyoto Cycling Tour Project (KCTP) offers a wide range of bikes for rent for prices ranging from 1 000 to 2 000 yen per day.
The KCTP team of is used to welcoming foreign customers and provides all the necessary advice. Be careful not to park your bike just anywhere. Despite appearances, it is forbidden to leave your bicycle on the pavement. There are five KCTP stores in Kyoto. It is possible to rent a bike in one and drop it in another for an additional cost of 400 yen.
In addition to bike rentals, KCTP offers guided tours which explore the city and the Japanese culture. One in particular allows you to go on a one day ride (lunch included) to discover the machiya, Kyoto's traditional houses. Live in kyoto style, get on your bike!
