Visiting Yokohama with Kids
For for all ages
Traveling with children in Japan is easy! Here is our selection of places in Yokohama that will please the whole family.
Yamashita Park with the “Happy Lawson”
Yamashita Park, a public park along Yokohama Bay, is ideal for a dose of clean air and greenery during your journey. From there, we advise you to go to Happy Lawson, a nice little cafe by the water. It includes a large playground, an indoor dining room, a café, and a rest area. There is also a large space for relaxation and games outside! It also offers nursing pads, toys, and Yokohama tourist information. The concept of the store was to create a space where single parents raising young children could come and meet to chat.
Plus, the fun-looking and tasting food you can find here will delight kids of all ages.
- Address: 279, Yamashita-cho, Naka, Yokohama 231-0023
- Access: 5 min walk from Motomachi-Chukagai station and Chinatown. The Akai Kutsu sightseeing bus also stops at the park (Yamashita Koen-mae), as does the Seabass boat cruise.
The Orbi Indoor Wildlife Encounter
Located on the fifth floor of the “Mark Is” mall, the Orbi Indoor Wildlife Encounter is an interactive indoor amusement park designed to amuse all five senses.
By using new technologies, Orbi offers a unique experience to learn more about the animal world while playing. Through exhibitions and light projections, they have succeeded in creating a very educational space that will fascinate the whole family. You will find, for example, a life-size animal encyclopedia, a simulator of a trip around the world, or even 4D gorillas.
The Kid-O-Kid
Once you're done in Orbi, drop down to the third floor and you'll find the Bornelund Toy Store. Inside the store, you'll find Kid-O-Kid, a play area with a jungle-themed gymnasium for children aged six months to twelve years.
Kid-O-Kid is a large playroom filled with Bornelund toys and activities, including a bouncy castle, bouncy track for running and jumping, ball pit, sandpit, toy trains, puzzles, a kitchen, and a dining area. There is also a space for babies with adapted toys and areas where they can crawl and have fun in complete safety.
- Address: 3-5-1 Minatomirai, Nishi Ward, Yokohama, 220-0012

This shopping center also has many shops of all kinds and even a cafe on its roof.
Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum
This museum successfully mixes pedagogy to learn about ramen, beautiful ambiance and decor, and delicious food.
Its first floor is dedicated to the history of ramen and a cute little gift shop where you can buy exclusive ramen packs to take away as souvenirs.
But the real magic is on the second floor, a furnished space containing several ramen restaurants. In each of them, you can taste ramen as it is made in different regions of Japan. Small portions are provided for children … or if you want to taste several specialties!
The decor resembles a 1950s movie set with small alleyways. It makes you feel like you've entered an alternate universe or stepped back in time. An unreal experience guaranteed!

Yokohama Cosmo World
It is an amusement park located in the heart of Yokohama City that offers rides suitable for all ages. And there are no entrance fees, you pay per attraction or ride you want to take.
There's a nice range of rides, ranging from the "Kids Carnival Zone" to the slightly more intense and teen-friendly "Burano Street Zone". There is also the "Wonder Amuse" area, intended for adults. The whole family can therefore have fun together, in the same place!
Our tip, ride the iconic Cosmo Ferris wheel at night for a romantic moment and enjoy the beautiful Yokohama city lights below.
