Roppongi Hills Mori Tower 六本木ヒルズ森タワー
Tokyo infernal tower
Roppongi Hills is a huge urban project built in the early 2000s and at the heart of which the Mori Tower is the center.
Inaugurated on April 25, 2003 in the Minamoto district, the 238-meter-high Roppongi Hills Mori Tower has 54 floors dedicated to various activities and an observation deck that offers a magnificent view of Tokyo .
As for them, the offices, shops, apartments, restaurants, cinemas and museums of Roppongi Hills extend over an area of 11 hectares on the ground: a pharaonic project started at the end of the 1990s.
The first six floors group together shops and restaurants. The following floors are occupied by prestigious companies like Ferrari, Barclays, Chevron or Pokémon Company. The tower has also become a symbol of the Japanese computer industry. The last six levels are devoted to the Mori Art Museum and the Tokyo City View Observatory . At the 51 th floor, 360-degree view of Tokyo is breathtaking. The entrance fee is 1,500 yen. A free solution is available to you to enjoy the view, from the library located three floors below.
Head in the clouds
Within Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, the Mori Art Museum is the major cultural venue. Designed and furnished by Gluckman Mayner Architects, it presents contemporary art exhibitions with the desire to make art accessible to the public. Modernity and internationalism are the guidelines of the museum, which presents all forms of art through world-renowned contemporary artists such as Ai Weiwei, Chinese plastic artist, or Yoshioka Tokujin, Japanese designer.
Louise Bourgeois' spider sculpture "Maman", placed at the foot of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, is an illustration of the desire to put art at the center of the complex. Nearby, the Mori garden is a natural setting in the style of a traditional Japanese garden, a must-see.
