Sony Explora Science ソニー・エクスプローラサイエンス
A science museum in Tokyo!
Located in the Aqua City shopping complex in Odaiba, the SonyExplora Science is a science museum where young and old discover and experience the fundamental principles of light, sound and image thanks to the latest technologies developed by the electronics giant. The perfect place for budding little scientists!
For the keys to everything
If when you hear the word “scientist”, the one and only thing that comes to mind is a dusty memory of one of your science classes where you constantly scanned the class clock, the Sony Explora Science in Odaiba could well change all of this !
In this science museum, we move, we touch, we laugh and we smile (a lot) because we learn while having fun. All experimental devices set up to shed light on certain phenomena and scientific principles relating to light, sound, atmospheric pressure, etc. incorporate technologies and products developed by the Japanese firm , created in 1946.

Your best smile
In the introductory area called "entertainment area", the "AR Mirror" allows you to put on a wide choice of costumes (witch, pirate, police officer, ninja, etc.) without even undressing thanks to augmented reality and facial recognition .Post yourself alone or in pairs in front of the screen and choose your favorite outfit. You will then leave with this souvenir photo on your smartphone.
Not far from there, you will be able to test the power of your smile! Well seated in front of the lens, you have only one thing to do to claim victory: put on your best smile! Analyzed then compared to hundreds of others in the database and to that of your challenger, your smile will be rated . A funny challenge to take up with friends and family!
Technology at the service of science
In the "Sound" area, the visitor has access to unique sound spaces where he can experience the transmission of sound, the creation of rhythms and melodies, the distortion of his voice (speed, tone).
Then comes the "light" zone in which we explore the different methods of facial recognition, the capture and reproduction in real time of expressions and movements in a digital avatar or even the possibility of giving life to a Chinese shadow .
In this specific case, a computer will generate a moving image corresponding to the shape of the shadow cast by your hands, reproducing one of the ten animals proposed.
Live science live
In addition to these permanent exhibition spaces, the Sony ExploraSciences has a theater which broadcasts 3D programs throughout the day on the origins of the universe, the beauty of the marine species of the archipelago and the wild animals of Hokkaido . .
E very weekends and holidays, the theater hosts science shows in which superheroes with infinite knowledge perform live experiments. At Sony Explora Science, learning is child's play!
