The Mizuma Art Gallery, in Tokyo's Ichigaya district makes a point of featuring artists, mainly from Asia and Japan, who are distinguished by an intensely personal style. (Between 2002 and 2011, there was a sister gallery called Mizuma Action in Naka-Meguro, which introduced Western artists to the Japanese art scene.)
Mizuma Art Gallery is a regular participant in international art fairs, including ARCO in Madrid, the Armory Show in New York, Frieze in London, FIAC in Paris, and Basel Miami.
Mizuma Art Gallery opened in 1994 in Aoyama and moved to its present location in 2002.
Previous exhibitions have showcase the work of Aida Makoto, Akira Yamaguchi, Sachie Noda, Yoo Seung-Ho, Tomoko Konoike, Ota Mari and Toru Ishii among others.
A Mizuma Art Gallery also has a presence in Singapore at #01-34, 22 Lock Road, Gillman Barracks, 108939 Singapore. The gallery also has spaces in Beijing, China and an artist residency space Rumah Kijang Mizuma in Yogyakarta, Indonesia to support artist exchanges between Indonesian and Japanese artists.
