The Crafts Gallery (Kogeikan), in Kitanomaru Koen Park, is an annex of the National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo, which is down the road near Takebashi Station, next door to the National Archives of Japan building.
History
Housed in a red-brick Neo Gothic building dating from 1910, the Crafts Gallery was originally the headquarters of the Imperial Guard of the Japanese army and is one of the few western-style buildings in Tokyo that predates the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
Exhibits
The Crafts Gallery exhibits Japanese and foreign crafts from the Meiji Period to the present day, including bamboo, ceramics, dolls, glassware, lacquer, textiles, wood and metal work, as well as industrial and graphic design.
A "Touch & Talk" guide with the Craft Gallery's English-speaking staff is available on request on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 2 pm-3 pm.

There is a library on site which is open Tuesday-Friday from 2 pm-5 pm with books on contemporary Japanese crafts. The Crafts Gallery has a shop which sells ceramics, textiles and jewelry items by leading Japanese artists as well as exhibition postcards and catalogues.
The Crafts Gallery is a short walk from either Takebashi on the Tozai Line or Kudanshita Station on the Tozai, Hanzomon and Toei Shinjuku lines of the Tokyo metro.
The Crafts Gallery, along with the National Film Center in Kyobashi, is part of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
