Bunkyo Historical Museum Exhibits
Established in 2001, the Bunkyo Historical Museum has two floors of exhibits ranging from pottery and other artifacts from the Jomon and Yayoi periods of Japanese history to post-war electronics and assorted household items from the 1950's and 1960's.
The main exhibits focus on the long Edo and Meiji periods when Bunkyo ward was at the heart of Edo, and later Tokyo culture.

On display are an eclectic mix of original and replica wood block prints, arts and crafts, tools, clothing, documents and photographs of the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 and the destruction wreaked by World War II. The exhibits focus on the life and lifestyles of the inhabitants of this area of Tokyo including features on education in the area and the dawn of modern techniques in printing and publishing.
Dioramas and computer quizzes help to give a contemporary touch to this well-laid out and interesting little museum.

Admission: 100 yen for adults; free for junior high school age and younger. Additional charge may apply for special exhibitions.
Hours: 10 am-5 pm; closed Mondays, but open if Monday falls on a national holiday in which case closed on Tuesday.
Bunkyo Historical Museum is located a short walk from Hongosanchome Station on the Marunouchi Line and Oedo Subway Line. Bunkyo Historical Museum is also close to Kasuga Station on both the Oedo Subway Line and Toei Mita Line.
By Tokyo bus take one of the 都02, or the 上69 buses from the Masago Sakagami stop or the Bunkyo Community bus B-ぐる (B-Guru) 10 minutes from Bunkyo Civic Center or La Qua hot spring rest and relaxation facility in Tokyo Dome.
