The panorama of the village of Oishi 大石
View of the rice fields
Located in the wild and mysterious Iya Valley, the village of Oishi nestled in the middle of terraced rice fields offers, to the most curious, a sublime and above all comfortable observation point. Follow the leader !
If, for some, curiosity is a bad flaw, for others, it leads straight to superb discoveries . Because it is by following small wooden panels, on which were inscribed multicolored Japanese characters, that the village of Oishi offered itself to us.
Oishi is a small traditional Japanese village , made up of a few wooden houses, located on the smallest island of the 4 main islands: Shikoku . To reach it, you will have to cross the magnificent Iya Valley , with its natural landscapes, its fantastically colored gorges, still little known to travellers.
The village of Oishi is perched on the heights of the commune of Motoyama, a small town bordering the Yoshino River. To reach it, you will need a car, or a hell of a will, to take the road that winds through the fir trees for a little over a kilometer.
A VILLAGE WITH TRADITIONAL HOUSES
Then, you will finally start to see some traditional houses , surrounding small shady alleys . Then, the more you continue to advance on the road, the more the houses will become more spaced out, giving way to other, larger ones, surrounded by vegetable gardens. It is at this moment that you will be able to see this small wooden panel which we spoke to you about above. So follow the arrow, you won't regret it!
A SOFA FOR WATCHING THE RICE FIELDS
Leave the village on your left and take the path (rather steep). After a few minutes, you will be completely surrounded by fir trees and it is when you wonder if you have not taken the wrong path that it will appear before your eyes: a soft sofa , installed under a small courtyard , specially oriented so that you can observe for hours if you wish, the terraced rice fields that this sofa overlooks.
A perfect place for a picnic or resting while reading a little book. Or simply to watch nature . If you have time, don't hesitate any longer, follow the little signs that intrigue you, there are sometimes nice surprises at the end of the road!
