Caravel Bar カラベル
Single Malt
The best Sapporo hotel is home to a luxurious and discreet bar, which in the half-light, offers the best stocked whiskey cellar in northern Japan.
You do not talk at the counter of Caravel, you whisper. It must be said that distinction and discretion are the norm at this luxurious bar that plays more on darkness (subdued lighting, dark wood) than on light.
Leather furniture - sofas and club chairs - and the decoration reproduce the sumptuous interior of a British ship, but it is when you open the menu that you witness the most beautiful sight.
Dozens of whiskeys organized by terroir (Japanese, Irish, Scottish, single malt scotch ...) 12, 18, sometimes 30 years of age. The two big Japanese brands, Nikka and Suntory are particularly well represented. The first with great bottles of Tsuru and Taketsuru (single malt blends from the Sapporo and Sendai distilleries), the second with the now famous Hakushu (12 and 18 years) and Yamazaki (likewise), two distilleries located in Honshu, and Hibiki (single malt blends for both).
The ultimate refinement: Sapporo Grand Hotel has even especially commissioned a 1999 Suntory Single Cask Yamazaki for Caravel, obviously it is the only place you can drink it, but be warned, this single malt is 58% proof...
