In the center of Ishigaki city in the Yaeyama Islands of Okinawa, is the small and somewhat quaint, Yaeyama Museum.
Exhibits
The museum contains a collection of the local crafts of Ishigaki and the other islands in the Yaeyama chain. The museum's over 5,000 exhibits include traditional boats and canoes from around the Yaeyama chain of islands, Okinawa festival shiisa masks and local textiles, mainly clothing. Furthermore there are scale models of traditional Yaeyama architecture, coffin palanquins, scrolls and other historic documents.

Other things to see on Ishigaki Island include Torinji Temple and Gongendo Shrine, just a short way west of Ishigaki Port.
