Appi Kogen Station is located in Iwate Prefecture , deep in the Hachimantai Volcanic Plateau, less than 50 km from Morioka City . It is the largest ski resort in the Tohoku region, with no less than 21 slopes of all levels and a total length of 45.1 kilometers. The runs are located on the slopes of Mount Maemori (1,305m) and Mount Nishimori (1,328m), and feature quality powder, as well as groomed and ungroomed sections. It is generally active - unless there is a change due to weather conditions - from the beginning of December to the beginning of May .

Even if the station is also active in summer, it is in winter that the activities are the most numerous and the most interesting. Alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, parks for children, courses for all levels ... The resort benefits from excellent, comfortable facilities that allow you to spend a few days skiing in complete serenity.
Of the 21 slopes, about a third is intended for seasoned skiers. The maximum slope of the slopes is 34° for the more adventurous, and the longest extends over no less than 5.5 km . 14 chairlifts and 2 gondolas will allow you to go up the slopes effortlessly. It is also possible to ski in the evening on certain slopes.

The resort is also suitable for families , with in particular a ski area dedicated to children, a daycare service, snowy playgrounds and a zoo.
Other attractions include a park equipped with ramps and obstacles specially dedicated to snowboarders wishing to practice tricks, as well as a playground with sledges, snow tires and mini-tracks for fun in family. Finally, at the foot of the slopes are the traditional equipment rental shops, shops, restaurants and of course a ski school.
The huge area is very pleasant and for good reason, CNN even ranked Appi Kogen as the best ski resort in Asia .
To end the day well, the resort's emblematic hotel, the APPI Grand, has a number of indoor activities. Swimming pool, gym, squash courts, arcade rooms, karaoke ... A large spa complex is also accessible, and allows skiers to relax after an intense day of winter sports: sauna, indoor spa, outdoor onsen are available.
Note that the resort is also open in summer, and offers a whole range of adapted activities.
