Kyoto International Community House (kokoka)
Kyoto International Community House in the east of Kyoto close to Nanzenji Temple opened in 1989. It provides a space and reference center for "international interactions" and a variety of events.
Facilities
Kyoto International Community House has facilities that appeal to both short-term visitors to Kyoto and long-term residents.
These include free WiFi, a PC rental service, BBC or CNN television in the lobby and a popular notice board/bulletin board for accommodation, goods for sale, jobs and language exchange.
The library is an excellent resource with dictionaries in over 100 languages, newspapers and magazines from around the world plus Japanese movies sub-titled in English. The library also has a selection of guide books on Japan and Japanese culture plus information on living and working in Japan.
Also on offer are Japanese and Korean language classes and an interpretation and counseling service providing advice from trained professionals. This service is available in English by telephone on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm (075 752 1166). There are also counseling days held throughout the year offering advice on legal matters, tax and visa issues etc.
The Information Service Counter has information on international exchange programs available in Kyoto.

The pleasant garden at the back of the facility incorporates both a Japanese and western-style garden and a small stage.
Several modern and fully-equipped halls and conference rooms are available to rent for concerts, conferences, exhibitions, lectures, private parties and seminars.
The annex is a Japanese style space with tatami floors ideal for tea ceremonies.

Closed on Mondays (closed Tuesday and open Monday if Monday is a public holiday); also closed over the New Year holidays.
