Kyoto Budo Center
Kyoto Budo Center consists of the historic wooden kyubutokuden constructed in 1899 and the more modern building built 90 years later in 1989. Students can practice various martial arts here including kendo, iaido, aikido and kyudo.

History
The original wooden Kyoto Budo Center (旧武徳殿; kyubutokuden) dates from 1899 in the Meiji Period and is the oldest such martial arts center in Japan.
Facing the old Kyoto Budo Center, which is still used for martial arts training, such as aikido, iaido, naginata, tai chi, kendo, judo, kyudo (archery) and karate is the new, concrete Kyoto Budo Center constructed in 1989.

The new Kyoto Budo Center run by Kyoto City Sports Association also offers facilities for such sports as table tennis, tennis, badminton and volleyball.

The nearest stops on the Kyoto subway to Kyoto Budo Center are Higashiyama Station (Tozai Line) and Marutamachi Station (Karasuma Line), though Jingu-Marutamachi Station on the Keihan Line is closer.
Kyoto buses #93, #201, #202, #203, #204 and #206 go to nearby Kumano Jinja. Bus #32 also passes by the Kyoto Budo Center, which is also close to Shogoin Temple and Kyoto Handicraft Center, which is just across Marutamachi street.
