Kobe Harborland is a shopping and entertainment area on the Kobe waterfront close to JR Kobe Station.
Kobe Harborland opened in 1992 and was a redevelopment of the JR Minatogawa freight yards.

Umie Mall
The Umie shopping mall has three distinct areas: Mosaic, North Mall and South Mall.
The waterfront Mosaic has views of Meriken Park and Kobe Port Tower and has a variety of stores and eateries. To the south are the Kobe Anpanman Children's Museum & Mall and a Ferris Wheel.
North Mall and South Mall include a plethora of fashion stores, souvenir shops, a cinema, an Izumiya department store and trendy bars, restaurants and cafes catering to predominately young couples. Both malls are open from 10am-9pm.

Harborland Attractions
As well as Umie Mall, Kobe Harborland has a number of other attractions including Gaslight Street, which is illuminated at night with traditional gas lights and seeks to capture the atmosphere of Kobe as a foreign treaty port in the early Meiji Period.
Right at JR Kobe Station is the modern, high-rise Promena mall including a 24-hour artificial hot spring bath and healing spa (Manyo Club), a food court open from 10am-10pm and many other restaurants and cafes.
Renga Soko is a renovated area of 19th century brick warehouses now housing a variety of bars, cafes and restaurants.
Duo Kobe is another mall which is part of JR Kobe Station.
A number of hotels are clustered in this area including the New Otani Kobe Harborland, Hotel Crown Palace Kobe, Kobe City Gardens Hotel (Formally Hotel Kobe Shishuen), Chisun Hotel Kobe Hotel, Centurion Hotel Grand Kobe Station and Toyoko Inn JR Kobe-eki Kita-guchi.
Getting to Kobe Harborland
Kobe Harborland is located close to JR Kobe Station on the JR Kobe Line. From Kyoto change at JR Osaka Station City in Osaka and take a Rapid Service train for Himeji or Aboshi for Kobe Station. The journey takes 26 minutes.
From Sannomiya Station it is only 4 minutes by JR train.
Alternatively take a Kobe subway Kaigan Line train to Harborland Station.
Nishi Motomachi Station and Okurayama Station are both within ten minutes' walk.
