Flower Park is on the southern tip of Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima overlooking Cape Nagasakibana and Ryugu Shrine. Flower Park is within easy reach of both Chiran with its graceful samurai district and Kamikaze Peace Museum and Ibusuki with its famous sand baths.
Flower Park claims to be the largest flower theme park in Japan with around 400,000 plants from 2,400 species laid out on a large, spacious site. As well as sub-tropical plants from Kagoshima Prefecture and the rest of Kyushu there are also plants from South America, Africa and Australia.
Flower Park offers two recommended courses one lasting 30 minutes and the other an hour though it is easily possible to spend more time here to admire the fine views of Mt. Kaimon ("Satsuma Fuji") and Kagoshima Bay. If you are in a hurry or feeling lazy electric buggies can be hired to tour the park.

Flower Park Four Seasons
Flower Park can be enjoyed year round with roses, cherry blossom, petoria, rhododendron and plum in spring; water lilies, hydrangea, muntingia and jacaranda in summer; hibiscus, licorice and gentian in autumn and poppy, acacia and tulips in winter.
In the glass houses a variety of tropical flowers can be seen year-round including jade vine, heliconia and torch ginger.

There are hourly buses to and from the Flower Park from JR Ibusuki Station taking about 35 minutes at a cost of 470 yen. The bus terminates at JR Kaimon Station via the Health Land Spa and Cape Nagasaki ban a for Ryugu Shrine and the Nagasakibana Parking Garden.
By car, Flower Park is approximately 60km south of Kagoshima city and is a 90 minute drive. Turn south off National Highway 226.
