Flower Festival 広島花祭り
Cranes and parades
The Flower Festival of Hiroshima attracts tens of thousands of people, and it is continuing to grow.
For the occasion, cars can not drive on the Avenue of Peace and the street in dedicated to walking and stalls offering food, souvenirs, and games for children. The flower festival is like a huge fair with dance performances, music, and traditional dress and face makeup (Yosakoi).
Hundreds of origami (folded paper) cranes, a symbol of peace, are placed on the lawn of the Peace Memorial. You can even participate by giving a few minutes of your time and people will teach you how to make these little color creations. And do not forget the flowers! Monumental wreaths adorn utility poles by nearby street vendors.
