Onomichi Cat Trail Walk 猫の細道
To the happiness of cats
Located between Hiroshima and Okayama, the town of Onomichi, by the Seto Inland Sea, is a haven of peace. Classified as a national heritage, it is also known for being the city of cats.
Cat lovers, Onomichi is made for you: a path is entirely dedicated to them on the heights of the city! To come face to face with the local cats, go to old Onomichi, on the heights of Mount Senkô-ji. You can get there by cable car, a one-way ticket costs only 280 yen (€ 2.30). At the top, there is a panoramic view of the city, its port and the surrounding islands.

Lecharme operates, it is the soul of Japan that calls you. Temples, pagodas, alleys, nature and calm, a special and typical atmosphere invades you. It is then possible to discover the Senkô-ji temple, the city's art museum or the lovers' sanctuary.

Among the paths which mark out this small hill, is the n eko no hosomichi , understand the small narrow path of the cats . This is where your gaze will certainly meet that of a neko (cat in Japanese).
It is also on this charming promenade that the Maneki-neko museum is located, this lucky charm that attracts good luck and prosperity. There are also several cat-themed shops and cafes of course!

But it is not over: all along this street of cats are scattered small pebbles on which are painted ... cats!
This is fukuishi-neko. There are over a hundred of them hidden in Onomichi and they are all different! Mainly, they are painted red, a symbol of protection in Japan.
For the record, these stones come from the inland sea. After being decorated, they are purified in a temple. Thus she would have a power, that of fulfilling your dearest wishes.
You must therefore touch the very first fukushi-neko three times to make your wish come true ...
