The Rainbow Line and its panorama
Rainbow panorama
Located in Fukui Prefecture, The Rainbow Line is a park that overlooks Wakasa Bay with a breathtaking 360-degree view of the five lakes of Mikata!
Superb view of the Sea of Japan, a panorama of the five famous lakes of Mikata, a stroll in a magnificent rose garden, and the ascent of a pass in a small chairlift: here is what awaits you if you aspire to go on the Rainbow Line, a road a little over 11 kilometers. Located in the prefecture of Fukui, it extends from the city of Sasada to that of Wakasa and makes it possible to reach Mount Baijo-dake.

A Superb Panorama Over The 5 Lakes
But before you can taste the delights of nature, you will first have to pay the toll fee, around 1,000 yen ($8.50/8€). Once past the toll, you will meander on the road leading to the car park on the mountainside and thus enjoy a magnificent view of the Sea of Japan.
Once you have left your car in the car park, you can finally discover, on foot, the magnificent view of the five lakes of Mikata, each of which has a different color (a slight shade of blue). These lakes are all interconnected, making it possible to discover them by boat.
Roses And Love
But that's not all. A magnificent rose garden, where more than 600 roses of a hundred different varieties bloom in November and April. A short romantic stroll before heading to "the point of lovers," where it is a good omen to make a wish of happiness with your other half. You will be able to meditate in front of a small sanctuary dedicated to love and which, for the lucky ones, would bring eternal love.
There is also a bell called the Friendship Bell, which rings in two different tones: the first signifies joy while the second brings you a blessing.
A Cable Car Climb
Finally, the last attraction of the Rainbow line is a small cable car visitors can take to reach the top of Mount Baijo-dake. Thus, it is possible to enjoy an even more expansive panorama, both on the lakes and the Sea of Japan, located on the other side of the mountain.
For those with a bit of vertigo, it is worth pointing out that the cable car is made up of small seats, which, on windy days, can float a little with the air currents. Nothing dangerous, but if you are not very reassured about this kind of installation, it is better to specify it!
