What is teamLab Borderless?
teamLab Borderless is a unique immersive digital art museum located in the trendy Azabudai Hills district in Tokyo. This 10,000 m² space serves as a playground for art and technology. Unlike traditional museums, there is no fixed path; visitors are free to explore its 50 interactive installations. Each artwork responds to your presence, transforming every visit into a different and personalized experience.
teamLab, a Japanese collective founded in 2001, brings together artists, programmers, engineers, mathematicians, and architects. Together, they push the boundaries of traditional art by combining creativity, science, and technology. At teamLab Borderless, the artworks are not just for observation—they transform based on your gestures and presence.
Interactive and immersive artworks
The installations at teamLab Borderless are not mere projections; they directly respond to your actions. The key element of this experience is interaction: the more you engage, the richer and more evolving the artwork becomes.
Each installation reacts differently to your movements, and no artwork is static. Whether you touch, dance, or move, you become an integral part of the art, creating a unique experience with every visit.
The perfect blend of art, technology, and perception
What sets teamLab Borderless apart from other museums is the way art, science, and technology merge to create a new form of artistic experience. The installations are not isolated—they interact with each other, creating unexpected connections from one room to the next. This phenomenon is known as "cognitive sculpture", where the experience is constantly evolving, making each visit different from the last.
The creations are not just for contemplation—they are designed for visitors to actively participate in their transformation. The boundaryless artworks blend into one another, offering you a complete immersion in this digital universe.
