Shijo

The Shijō district is one of Kyoto's most emblematic destinations. Located in the center of the city, it is renowned for its constant bustle, with streets lined with high-end boutiques, refined restaurants and quaint cafés. Shopping enthusiasts will be enchanted by famous covered galleries such as Teramachi and Shinkyogoku, where local crafts, international brands and unique souvenirs rub shoulders. Shijō is also a paradise for gourmets, with establishments serving local specialties, notably on the famous Nishiki Street, nicknamed “the kitchen of Kyoto”.

But there's more to Shijō than its bustling commercial life. The district is deeply steeped in history and culture. Not far from its bustling avenues are shrines and temples, such as the Yasaka-jinja, that connect visitors to the spiritual soul of Kyoto. In the evening, traditional lanterns light up the streets, creating a magical atmosphere. Staying in a house in the heart of Shijō is a unique experience, where the timeless charm of Kyoto blends with modern comforts, all in a lively and inspiring setting.
