Tsuwano Tea House
The Tsuwano tea house offers an authentic stay in the Japanese countryside, just 4 minutes away from the station of this small village situated between Hiroshima and Yamaguchi.
A pleasant accommodation above a tea house
You are staying on the second floor of this tea house whose owners are best placed to share their good advice on places and restaurants to visit. The apartment has a large living room with eight tatami mats, approximately 27m2, which can be divided thanks to traditional Japanese "fusuma" doors. One of the Japanese living rooms is transformed into a bedroom with a futon using shoji panels. Everything is decorated in the classic Japanese style with tokonoma, kakejiku, engawa. Your accommodation has two bedrooms equipped with two single beds each and blackout curtains. A total of 6 people can stay at Tsuwano Tea House.
The small kitchenette includes a fridge, a small induction hob and a sink, as well as kitchen utensils including dishes and pots. Tea from the tea house located on the ground floor is also available for your personal tasting. Finally, the bathroom area offers a sink area and a shower, with toiletries available. A sotoroka, an exterior corridor decorated with reinforced rice paper panels, goes around the floor in traditional Japanese aesthetics. You can go from one room to another without necessarily having to cross the common space.
A baby set is available to travelers. It includes high chair and walker.
The ground floor has been converted into a tea room by the owners. You can taste their specialty, the "zaracha", a tea made from a plant from the region's mountains. Discounts are offered on store products. Although access is possible through two entrances, a back entrance allows travelers to have an independent access to the accommodation. You will find the washing machine there, free to use. A parking space is available outside.
An accommodation on the small central street of this typical Japanese village
Tsuwano is a castle town nestled in a steep, unspoilt valley in the mountains of Shimane Prefecture. It is one of several cities in Japan known as "Little Kyoto". The house is located on the edge of Tonomachi shopping street, bustling with small shops during the day, full of old samurai houses, sake breweries, museums and shops, and quiet at night. Two places offer Japanese or Western breakfast within a 5-minute walk. The small town promises beautiful visits: Tsuwano river, ruins of the castle and its incredible view, hiking between the lush hills... Many festivals also take place in the town.
The owners will be happy to welcome you warmly and share with you their best addresses in the surrounding area. A stay in Adrien’s tea house is the promise of an accessible and authentic experience.
