A stage of an international festival
Ultra Japan is an unmissable annual event for many electro fans around the world. Created in 2014 to the delight of Japanese fans, the event is actually part of a much larger festival: the Ultra Music Festival .
Better known as " Ultra ", the Ultra Music Festival is an American electronic music festival created in 1999 which quickly crossed the borders of the United States. A true global phenomenon, the Ultra takes place today in several cities around the world. And between Bali, Mexico City and Miami, the festival is settling down in Tokyo for three days of festivities.
Originally organized to be a two-day festival, Ultra Japan became a 72-hour event starting in the fall of 2015. Every year since then, the festival has been held from the second Saturday of September to the third Monday of the same month.
Indeed, the organizers take advantage of the day dedicated to the elderly to organize the event. A holiday that takes place annually on the third Monday of September, and which thus makes Ultra Japan start on a Saturday and not a Friday unlike most three-day music festivals.
However, this small peculiarity seems to have paid off, since the Japanese stage of the Ultra welcomes more than 120,000 people every year! A figure that makes Ultra Japan one of the biggest music festivals in the archipelago , but also the most important electro festival in the country.
Three days of festivities and renowned artists
Ultra Japan usually consists of three stages : the main stage where the headliners belonging to the biggest names in world electro play, the "Re si stance " stage which hosts the flagship of underground electro and Deep H ouse , and the " Ultra Park " stage dedicated to local artists.
Indeed, UltraJapan is not reserved only for artists of the moment.
It is above all a space for sharing and discovery, which allows more modest artists to play alongside big names in electro , and which gives festival-goers the opportunity to discover Japanese musicians they may not have known.
Among the headliners known to the general public, Ultra Japan has welcomed DJs from all over the world . Steve Angello and Nicky Romero in 2017, DJ Snake in 2018, or even Alesso and David Guetta in 2015, a dozen renowned artists take to the festival's main stage each year.
And to welcome these artists who come from afar, Ultra Japan thinks big!
Giant screens where the latest creations from Japanese special effects studios are broadcast , light shows, and urban dance shows between shows , everything is done to recreate a unique atmosphere, in line with everyone's music.

Also note that food and drink stands , as well as VIP areas with lounges and panoramic views of the stages are also part of it, as in any good self-respecting music festival!

Good to know
If the crazy atmosphere that reigns at Ultra Japan is enough to attract more than one, some small things are nevertheless to be taken into account before buying your entrance ticket : you must be at least 20 years old to participate (legal age at Japan in places where alcohol flows freely) and the average price of admission is 13,000 yen (99 €) a day . "3-day Passes" are nevertheless possible for all those who would like to not miss a single crumb of the event, and it's 39,000 yen (295€) .
