In one room a troupe of actors repeat a kyōgen performance, a comical theater art. In another part of the center, local amateurs put on a classic theater performance of Noh. Just next door, a young artist, whom the managers of the Kyoto Art Center have entrusted, installs a performance piece in one of the dedicated rooms.
This artist residence, opened in 2000 in the building of the old Meirin elementary school, has something for everyone. Contemporary art exhibitions, cultural events, theatrical and dance performances... a colorful program, which has given free reign to a wide variety of expression.
