The Anpanman Children's Museum in Mall in Fukuoka City, like its counterparts in Sendai, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Kobe, is not really a museum.
Most of the space is taken up with a variety of play areas, including a sandbox, bouncy castle, small train ride, slides etc. , though there are exhibits of Anpanman characters and an area for arts and crafts.

Anpanman & Friends
Throughout the day Anpanman and friends make an appearance and interact with the kids and there is also a large stage area where regular performances of music and dance take place.
There are lots of shops selling a wide variety of Anpanman-themed products and also numerous restaurants serving meals as well as snacks and drinks.
If your kids are fans of Anpanman and/or very young then it would be a good place to while away some time, especially on a rainy day, but could quite easily become expensive. The entry fee is 1,500 yen for adults and kids with only babies under 1 year old getting in free.

Riverain Mall
The Riverain Mall which houses the Anpanman Museum also contains the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (福岡アジア美術館). This is a very visitor-friendly museum and has one of the best collections in the world of contemporary and modern art from all across Asia.
Entry to the permanent collection is only 200 yen, with varying entry fees for the other exhibition. There is a play area for children right next to a café, so it can easily be visited after a trip to the Anpanman Museum.
There is also a baby room, library, audio-visual corner, and museum shop. Lectures, talks, films, and performances are put on regularly, as well as "open studios" with artists in residence.
