Futago "Twins" Temple is situated on the Kunisaki Peninsula in Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, southern Japan.
The Tendai sect temple originally dates from 718. It is one of the so-called Rokugo Manzan temples in the Kunisaki area. These temples combine elements of Buddhism, Shintoism and mountain worship.
Proceed through the entrance torii gate between two stone Nio guardian statues up a flight of stone steps to the main temple buildings. The Gomado Hall is dedicated to wrathful Buddhist protector, Fudo Myo-o. The Okunoin Hall enshrines a one thousand armed Kannon.

Futago "Twins" Temple is set in some lovely countryside on Mt. Futago (721 meters). There are buses close to the temple from Kunisaki town, get off at the last stop Futago-ji.
