Tokyo Midtown Hibiya 東京ミッドタウン日比谷
Tokyo Midtown Roppongi's little brother to Hibiya
Tokyo Midtown Hibiyase presents as the little brother of Tokyo Midtown Roppongi. Completed in March 2018, a stone's throw from Hibiya station, this 190,000 m² shopping center is the very latest complex labeled ''Tokyo Midtown'' to have opened in the Japanese capital. An infrastructure between 19th century architecture and modern aesthetics, which highlights the rich history of the Hibiya district.
Hibiya, Tokyo's temple of entertainment
It is no coincidence that those responsible for the '' TokyoMidtown '' project have chosen Hibiya to host their new shopping center.
Indeed, the Hibiya district did not wait for '' Tokyo Midtown' ' to shine on the Tokyo entertainment scene. And the area has actually been popular with theatergoers and shoppers since the middle of the Showa era (1926-1989).
An important diplomatic center under Meiji (1868-1912) with the Rokumeikan , a Western-style building that accommodated foreign diplomats passing through Japan, Hibiya quickly became a major cultural center in Tokyo in the middle of the 20th century . And whether in the field of theater or cinema , many infrastructures have been set up there to promote the living arts.
Tokyo Takarazuka Theater , Hibiya Movie Theater and Hibiya Public Hall ; these buildings then hosted the best contemporary games of the time. An advertisement that greatly helped the development of the district that we ended up nicknamed "the city of films and plays".
Even today , Hibiya remains a favorite place for lovers of the living arts. A passion that has benefited the district, since Hibiya now attracts investors!
Very popular with large Japanese companies, the district is now a popular business center in the capital. And it hosts in particular several head offices of large companies such as that of the Tokyo Electric Power Company or that of Mitsui Fudosan , the real estate conglomerate at the origin of the '' Tokyo Midtown '' project.

A particular architecture
Designed and designed by Mitsui Fudosan, Tokyo Midtown Hibiya has a particular architecture.
Consisting mainly of a 35-storey tower and a small garden , this 190,000 m² shopping complex mixes modern architecture with the aesthetics of the past.
And for good reason, although the design of the " DancingTower " (name given to the Tokyo Midtown Hibiya tower representing two lovers embracing on a dance floor) derives from trends in current architecture, the cubic shapes at the bottom of the latter would be directly inspired of Rokumeikan aesthetics .
A way to pay homage to the district's past, which would actually be part of the project's desire to honor Japanese culture.
Indeed, the shopping center was built respecting two well-known precepts of Shintoism: elegance and respect for nature.
Two watchwords that we find in the design of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, since the complex is accompanied by a small garden and terraces adorned with greenery.
