Discover pachinko in Takayama
Unique and friendly
Far from the usual deafening establishments, it is in an almost family atmosphere that you can test the gambling that brings together millions of players in Japan. At Ebis, everything is done so that the curious can make the most of their first pachinko experience!
A real institution
Day or night, while walking in a Japanese city, you have certainly already passed in front of a pachinko with flashy windows, with large luminous inscriptions "Pachinko & Slot" on the front. Even with your eyes closed, music and the sound of metal balls invade the streets and the smell of tobacco escapes as soon as the automatic doors open. Hundreds or even thousands of machines are lined up on several floors . Machines in front of which millions of Japanese come to settle every day. An expensive but potentially profitable hobby; a game where luck helps a lot but where experience is the key to success.

Finally accessible to tourists
You don't dare to set foot in this dark universe which has the reputation of flirting with the mafia? Is the language barrier blocking you? Do the din of the machines and the neon lights put you off? Experience pachinko differently just a stone's throw from Takayama station ! A nugget in the heart of the city at the gates of the Japanese Alps .
Ebis is the only establishment that makes both coffee and pachinko , with a team ready to welcome foreigners and local products to be won . The goal is to show tourists that pachinko is not just a machine in front of which you have to sit for hours to earn the most money. It is above all a game to have fun and relax .
On its website (in English, Chinese and Korean), Ebis explains the principle of pachinko and invites beginners to come and test it out for themselves while promising them support throughout their experience. English instruction manuals are even available on site. The café/ pachinko is present on social networks and has received strong publicity by allowing the English videographer of the YouTube channel "Abroad in Japan" to film in the establishment.
Here is his video in which he explains the place of pachinko in Japanese society and visits the Ebis in Takayama:
One yen = one ball
Most pachinko offer a wide margin by offering the price of 4 yen for a ball. Here, in order to prove that the main objective is entertainment and not to make customers feel like they are being duped, each yen equals one marble . Thus, you can choose the amount to invest, play the desired time and exchange your winnings for a prize (drink, candy, etc.) to be enjoyed in the coffee section.
As a bonus, and this is rare enough to be mentioned, the establishment is completely non-smoking. Also, the prices are very reasonable for a tourist attraction, since you can enjoy ramen at 5€, a soda at 2€30 and a beer at 3€80.
Please note that access to the pachinko section is prohibited for minors .
This is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the local popular culture in complete serenity !
