Between sea and land, the Fukuoka Dome rises, half covered by a retractable roof, first of its kind in Japan.
Fukuoka Dome, built in 1993, is easily recognizable thanks to its spectacular roof.
This gigantic hall regularly hosts concerts by international stars. Michael Jackson even performed there four times during his solo career.
In 2005 it was renamed Fukuoka Yahoo! JAPAN DOME by Yahoo! Japan, who bought the stadium's naming rights. However, it still retains its soul as a huge baseball stadium.
The Fukuoka Hawks

Although not as strange as the Osaka Dome, the Fukuoka Dome still has its peculiarities, such as its retractable roof.
In spring or summer, when the weather permits, the roof can be retracted, allowing the forty thousand spectators in the stadium to enjoy an open-air show, directly under the stars. The frenzied game nights are refreshed by a gentle summer breeze.
After all, it is primarily for the baseball games that people flock to Fukuoka Dome and come to support the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, the local baseball team.
Concerts
Fukuoka Dome is an ideal setting to host the most spectacular concerts, with staggering pyrotechnics. Among the stars who performed on this stage, Fukuoka Dome can boast to have had the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Frank Sinatra and Bon Jovi.
You can visit the stadium during the week and go around the third floor, from where you have a magnificent view of the entire stadium.
