The Higashiyama Line is the busiest of the six subway lines in Nagoya and runs west to east from Takabata to Fujigaoka, where it connects with the Linimo.
The Higashiyama Line in Nagoya is one of the six main subway lines of the Nagoya subway system.
The Higashiyama Line, which is marked yellow on subway maps, extends 20.6 km east to west from from Takabata (H01) in the south west of the city to Fujigaoka (H22) in Meito-ku in the north east where it connects with the Linimo, which runs 8 stops to Yakusa.
The Higashiyama Line (aka Nagoya City Rapid Railway Line 1) is the busiest line on the Nagoya subway network and connects Nagoya Station with the commercial and entertainment district of Sakae and runs through the traditional heart of historic Nagoya including the prosperous areas of Ikeshita, Kakuozan, Motoyama and Higashiyama Koen.
Parts of the Higashiyama Line first opened in 1957. The main interchange stations on the Higashiyama Line are Hatta, Nagoya Station, Fushimi, Sakae, Imaike, Motoyama, and Fujigaoka.
There are women-only carriages all day on weekdays.

Nakamura-Koen Station
Nakamura-Koen Station is south of Nakamura Park - a plaque commemorates the birthplace of warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who is believed to have been born in this area of present day Nagoya.
A short walk from Nakamura-Koen Station is Nakamura Koen which contains Toyokuni Shrine, dedicated to Hideyoshi and the interesting Hideyoshi and Kiyomasa Memorial Museum with armor, swords and personal effects of Hideyoshi and his loyal general Kato Kiyomasa.
Nagoya Station
JR Nagoya Station has Tokaido Shinkansen to Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo, Yokohama and Shinagawa. JR trains from Nagoya Station run to Okazaki, Gamagori, Toyohashi, Gifu, Maibara, Ogaki and Tajimi. The JR Hida Express runs from Nagoya to Takayama and Toyama via Gero Onsen. The JR Shinano Express goes to Nagano. The Shirasagi Express service runs to Kanazawa.
The Sakura-dori Line also intersects at Nagoya Station.

Fushimi Station
Fushimi is the heart of Nagoya's commercial center: banks, financial institutions and insurance companies. Fushimi Station is an interchange station with the Higashiyama Line and is just one stop east of Nagoya Station. A large number of hotels are located here including Nagoya's Hilton Hotel.
Other attractions close to Fushimi include the Electricity Museum and in Shirakawa Park, south of Fushimi subway station, the Nagoya City Science Museum and Nagoya City Art Museum.
Kamimaezu merges into Osu and connects with the circular Meijo Line. Change here if coming from the east to get to the shopping and entertainment mecca of Sakae.
